If nutrition didn’t matter and I could design my perfect food pyramid, chocolate would be the large section at the very bottom. All chocolate would be lumped in that category; drinks, bars, cookies, cakes, truffles. Chocolate is the equivalent of a hug after a hard day. Chocolate soothes. Chocolate doesn’t judge. Chocolate comforts.

Which is why during these long winter months, homemade hot chocolate is the perfect winter beverage. Swiss Miss is nice sometimes, but real homemade hot chocolate can’t be beat. And this is one of my favorite recipes. Try it for yourself! And top it off with a heaping mound of homemade whipped cream.
