I know it’s only February but I’m already dreaming of spring. I just want to be surrounded by bright, happy colors and fresh flowers. I guess for the time being I can use this happy square to get me through the last remnants of winter. Presenting the Garden Dreams Square.

- DK Weight Yarn (I used Stylecraft Special DK in White, Fondant, and Lime and Paintbox Yarns Simply DK in Candyfloss Pink and Washed Teal) Yardage listed is per 10 squares
- 307 yards white
- 204 yards blue
- 65 yards green
- 107 yards dark pink
- 59 yards light pink
- G/6 – 4.00mm Hook (I love this set of Clover Amour crochet hooks)
- Scissors
- Yarn Needle
Size
The square is approximately 6.5 inches or 16.5cm when using the recommended DK yarn and G hook.
Abbreviations
- ch – chain
- sl st – slip stitch

Special Stitches
- dc2tog – *yarn over, insert hook into designated space or stitch, yarn over and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through two loops on hook,* twice, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook.
- dc3tog – *yarn over, insert hook into designated space or stitch, yarn over and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through two loops on hook* three times, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook.
Round 1
With white in a magic circle, ch 2, dc (counts as the first dc2tog), ch 2, [dc2tog, ch 2] seven times. Pull to close magic circle and join with sl st to the top of the first dc2tog. Fasten off and weave in ends. 8 dc2tog.
Round 2
With light pink, join in any ch 2 space with a sl st, [ch 2, dc (counts as the first dc2tog), ch 3, dc2tog, ch 1] in the same ch 2 space, {dc2tog, ch 3, dc2tog, ch 1} in the next seven ch 2 spaces around. Join with sl st to the top of the first dc2tog. Fasten off and weave in ends. 16 dc2tog.
Round 3
With dark pink, join in any ch 3 space with a sl st, {ch 3 (counts as a dc), 3 dc, ch 1, 4 dc} in the same ch 3 space, {4 dc, ch 1, 4 dc} in each of the next seven ch 3 spaces. Join with a sl st to the first dc. Fasten off and weave in ends. 64 dc.
Round 4
With green, join in any ch 1 space with a sl st, {ch 2, dc2tog (counts as a dc3tog), ch 4, dc3tog} in the same space, ch 2, dc in the next ch 1 space of row 2 (light pink row), ch 2, sc in ch 1 space of row 3 (dark pink row), ch 2, dc in the ch 1 space of row 2, ch 2, [{dc3tog, ch 4, dc3tog} in ch 1 space, ch 2, dc in the ch 1 space of row 2, ch 2, sc in ch 1 space of row 3, ch 2, dc in the ch 1 space of row 2, ch 2] three times. Join with a sl st to the top of the first dc3tog. Fasten off and weave in ends. 8 dc3tog, 8 dc, 4sc.
Round 5
With blue, join in any ch 4 space with a sl st (start in the center of the ch 4 space, we’ll come back to this space at the end of the round), ch 1, 3 sc in ch 4 space, [3 sc in each of the next four ch 2 spaces, {3 sc, ch 2, 3 sc} in ch 4 space] three times, 3 sc in each of the next four ch 2 spaces, *3 sc, ch 2* in ch 4 space, join with a sl st to the first sc. DO NOT FASTEN OFF. 72 sc.
Round 6
Ch 3 (counts as the first dc, 1 dc in each sc around, and work {2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc} in each ch 2 space, join with sl st to the first double crochet. Fasten off and weave in ends. 88 dc.
Round 7
With white, join in any ch 2 space with a sl st, {ch 3 (counts as the first dc), dc, ch 3, 2 dc} in the same ch 2 space, ch 1, [skip the next stitch, dc in the next stitch, ch 1] ten times, *{2 dc, ch 3, 2dc} in ch 2 space, ch 1, [skip the next st, dc in next st, ch 1] eleven times* three times. Join with sl st to the the first dc. DO NOT FASTEN OFF. 60 dc.
Round 8
Ch 3 (counts as the first dc), 1 dc in each stitch and ch 1 space around, and work {2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc} in each ch 3 space, join with a sl st to the first dc. Fasten off and weave in ends. 124 dc.
