Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday! There’s something so magical about the crisp fall air, the creativity of costumes, and, of course, the fun of trick-or-treating with family. This year, I’m especially excited to take my kiddos and my fur baby along for the festivities. I came across the most adorable photo of three adorable pups dressed as ghosts, sitting around a jack-o’-lantern, and it immediately inspired me to create a Halloween-themed yarn color palette. The playful energy of Halloween mixed with the cozy feeling of fall made this color palette idea a no-brainer!
The colors in the photo are just as fun and festive as the holiday itself. The bright orange of the pumpkin takes center stage, with pops of yellow adding a warm glow to the scene. There’s a beautiful earthy green from the leaves and foliage, and the soft cream of the ghost costumes adds a calming neutral to balance the bolder colors. Finally, the deep brown tones of these three furry sweethearts round out the palette, bringing a natural, grounded feel that perfectly complements the spooky yet playful vibe of the photo.
To bring these festive colors to life, I chose two yarn brands that work beautifully with the palette. Premier Yarns Anti-Pilling Everyday Worsted offers vibrant colors with a smooth finish, perfect for durable projects that you can enjoy for years to come. On the other hand, Stitch Please 100% Worsted Wool brings a cozy warmth with its gorgeous tones and hilarious yarn names. Both yarns highlight the neutral browns and creams while allowing the pops of orange, yellow, and green to stand out in all their Halloween glory.
There are so many fun projects you could create with this color palette! The wool would be perfect for Halloween-themed sweaters, hats, and scarves to keep you warm during trick-or-treating or fall outings. For home decor, or if you’re in the mood for something cozier, the acrylic yarn would make beautiful blankets—whether you’re thinking of a large throw or a smaller lapghan—and fun seasonal items like decorative pumpkins or pillow covers. Let the Bark-or-Treat color palette bring a little Halloween magic into your fall crafting this year!
