Materials
- 160 yards Superfine Weight Yarn (1). I used Loops & Thread Woolike.
- E/4 – 3.50mm Hook
- Stitch Marker
- Yarn Needle, for weaving in ends

Skill Level

- This project is rated easy
- This pattern uses basic stitches to create a simple stitch pattern. The round-bottomed version of the bag uses increases to shape the bag.
Gauge and Size
- The finished bag is approximately 6”x8” or 15x20cm.
- A 4”x”4 square (10x10cm) in double crochet stitches should be 22 stitches by 12 rows.
- Gauge will vary depending on the brand of yarn used and your tension, and can affect the finished bag size by several inches/centimeters.

- Written in US crochet terms.
- The pattern includes instructions for a straight-bottom bag, and a round-bottom bag. There are also instructions for a drawstring top and a top with handles. Both finished bags are approximately the same size.
- The photo tutorial used worsted medium-weight yarn and an H/8 – 5.00mm hook for clarity

Stitches
- Chain (ch)
- Slip Stitch (sl st) – insert hook into designated stitch, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook.
- Single Crochet (sc) – insert hook into designated stitch, yarn over and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook.
- Double Crochet (dc) – yarn over, insert hook into designated stitch, yarn over and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through two loops on hook, yarn over and draw through the two remaining loops on the hook.
- Double Crochet Two Together (dc2tog) – yarn over, insert hook into first designated stitch, yarn over and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through two loops on hook, yarn over, insert hook into second designated stitch, yarn over and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through two loops on hook, yarn over and draw through all remaining loops on hook.
Straight-Bottom Bag

The stitch pattern in this bag is worked in multiples of 12+2
Chain 38
Round 1: dc in the fourth chain from hook (the first 3 chains count as the first dc) and in each chain across, turn, and work one dc in each chain down the reverse side of the chain, including in the base of the first 3 chains, join with a sl st to the top of the first ch 3. 72 dc. Fold in half. This forms the base of the bag.

Round 2: ch 5 (counts as the first dc and ch 2), skip the next two sts, dc in the next st, ch 5, *skip the next two sts, dc in the next st, ch 2, skip the next two sts, dc in the next st, ch 5*, repeat the section between the * * around, join the last ch 5 with a sl st to the third chain in the beginning ch 5.

Round 3: ch 2, dc in the next dc (counts as the first dc2tog), ch 2, [dc, ch 2, dc] in the third ch of the ch 5, ch 2, *dc2tog in the next two dc, ch 2, [dc, ch 2, dc] in the third ch of the ch 5, ch 2*, repeat the section between the * * around, join the last ch 2 with a sl st to the top of the starting dc2tog.

Round 4: sl st over to the next dc, ch 5, dc in the next dc, ch 5, *skip the dc2tog and dc in the next dc, ch 2, dc in the next dc, ch 5*, repeat the section between the * * around, join the last ch 5 with a sl st to the third chain in the beginning ch 5.

Round 5: ch 2, dc in the next dc (counts as the first dc2tog), ch 2, [dc, ch 2, dc] in the third ch of the ch 5, ch 2, *dc2tog in the next two dc, ch 2, [dc, ch 2, dc] in the third ch of the ch 5, ch 2*, repeat the section between the * * around, join the last ch 2 with a sl st to the top of the starting dc2tog.
Repeat rows 4-5 seven times, or until the bag is your desired length, keeping in mind the drawstring or handles will add about 1” (2.5cm) to the finished length. Do not finish off, proceed to the top instructions of your choice.

Round-Bottom Bag

The stitch pattern in this bag is worked in multiples of 12
Round 1: In a magic circle, ch 3 (counts as the first dc now and throughout), work in 11 dc, join with a sl st to the top of the ch 3. 12 dc. Tighten the magic circle.

Round 2: ch 3, work a dc in the same st, work 2 dc in each st around, join with a sl st to the top of the ch 3. 24 dc.

Round 3: ch 3, 2 dc in the next st, *1 dc in the next st, 2 dc in the next st,* repeat the section between * * around, join with a sl st to the top of the ch 3. 36 dc.

Round 4: ch 3, 1 dc in the next st, 2 dc in the next st, *1 dc in the next two sts, 2 dc in the next st*, repeat the section between * * around, join with a sl st to the top of the ch 3. 48 dc.

Round 5: ch 3, 1 dc in the next two sts, 2 dc in the next st, *1 dc in the next three sts, 2 dc in the next st,* repeat the section between * * around, join with a sl st to the top of the ch 3. 60 dc.

Round 6: ch 3, 1 dc in the next three sts, 2 dc in the next st, *1 dc in the next four sts, 2 dc in the next st,* repeat the section between * * around, join with a sl st to the top of the ch 3. 72 dc.

Round 7: ch 5 (counts as the first dc and ch 2), skip the next two sts, dc in the next st, ch 5, *skip the next two sts, dc in the next st, ch 2, skip the next two sts, dc in the next st, ch 5*, repeat the section between the * * around, join the last ch 5 with a sl st to the third chain in the beginning ch 5.

Round 8: ch 2, dc in the next dc (counts as the first dc2tog), ch 2, [dc, ch 2, dc] in the third ch of the ch 5, ch 2, *dc2tog in the next two dc, ch 2, [dc, ch 2, dc] in the third ch of the ch 5, ch 2*, repeat the section between the * * around, join the last ch 2 with a sl st to the top of the starting dc2tog.

Round 9: sl st over to the next dc, ch 5, dc in the next dc, ch 5, *skip the dc2tog and dc in the next dc, ch 2, dc in the next dc, ch 5*, repeat the section between the * * around, join the last ch 5 with a sl st to the third chain in the beginning ch 5.

Round 10: ch 2, dc in the next dc (counts as the first dc2tog), ch 2, [dc, ch 2, dc] in the third ch of the ch 5, ch 2, *dc2tog in the next two dc, ch 2, [dc, ch 2, dc] in the third ch of the ch 5, ch 2*, repeat the section between the * * around, join the last ch 2 with a sl st to the top of the starting dc2tog.
Repeat rows 9-10 six times, or until the bag is your desired length, keeping in mind the drawstring or handles will add about 1” (2.5cm) to the finished length. Do not finish off, proceed to the top instructions of your choice.
Drawstring top
Round 1: ch 5, *dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in the top of dc2tog, ch 2, dc in the next dc, ch 2, dc in the next dc, ch 2*, join the last ch 2 with a sl st to the third chain of the ch 5.

Round 2: ch 1, work 2 sc in each ch 2 space around, sl st to first sc.

Round 3: ch 3 (counts as first dc), work 1 dc in each st around. Join with a sl st to the top of the ch 3. Finish off and weave in ends.

Drawstrings, make 2
Ch 111, sc in second chain from hook and in each across. 110 sc. Finish off and weave in ends.
Assembly
Weave in one drawstring with the ends on the left side. Knot the ends together. Weave in the second drawstring with the ends on the right side. Knot the ends together.

Handles Top
The handles top is worked in a spiral. Use a stitch marker in the first stitch of your current row.
Round 1: ch 1, work 2 sc in each ch 2 space around, do not join.

Rounds 2-3: sc in the first sc of the previous row, mark your place with a stitch marker, sc in each st around.

Round 4: *ch 54, skip 18 stitches, sc in the next 18 stitches* twice.

Rounds 5-6: sc in each stitch around. Finish off and weave in ends.
